Just finished installing one. Best bank for my buck.

Be sure to get and MMSI (Maritime Mobile Service Identities) and enter it into your radio. Then you can use the DSC (Digital Selective Calling) functions.

To get your MMSI number goto:

My Lake Powell fishing buddy and I use DSC Posistion Requests to locate each other while out and about. The GX1700 has an internal GPS that makes DSC real easy.
