You are right on for your assumptions. Most Smittys are from back east with heavy snow instead of our powder that skis cut through so I assumed I would need more clearance and the sled is honestly really tight already so it's not a big problem, but I think a 2x8 might have been better. But I think the 2x4s would be way too short. Good luck on your project. J
