I've been bummed out cuz I missed a trip with TD Thursday. Wish I could say I missed the Dude because of a heart attack or maybe a stroke... worse than all those, a date with the tax man. Pain.
Made it out today and fishin' for the kitties was good. Caught nine cats, all released, and was back home by 11:00 cuz I was out of bait. Water temp was 50 in the channel and pushing 48 in the open sea. Cats were fat and healthy... one 29 incher at 11 lbs. 2 oz. and a 27 incher at almost 9 lbs. Kind of choppy water early on but calmed as the sun warmed.
Met MSM on the water and had a good talk with him before he headed out to the island. We were yakking back and forth probably 30 yds. apart when I hooked a nice cat that made a run for his boat. Got tangled in his prop but he raised his prop and got the cat untangled and going in the right direction. Thanks.
Good sized crowd showed up as the day warmed. Several boats and waders down by the orchards and a few bank tanglers at the spring.
Good day with more to come.

[#0000FF]Hey. You're off to a good start. Amazing what a little calm weather and sunshine will do for the fishing.
As you could tell by reading my report, you may have missed a trip but you didn't miss much on the catchin'.
Looks like a good season ahead. So I don't mind giving you a little head start. I finish good.

Fished Lincoln Beach today and managed 8. The largest was 25.5". Ran out of bait. Scofield Chub was the bait of choice. Fishing was not fast but fun.

I'd untangle you anytime, it was good talking to ya, your gona have to start bringing more bait so you can stay longer, my biggest was 27, put 8 in the boat, lost 2, but could only keep 2 all the rest went back in, also caught 2 cats but they where just smaller,
awesome day.[sly]

Impressive walleyes. Seems like you have them figured out. I tip my greasy carp-stained hat to ya. They look like they are fat and healthy fish. I assume you caught them in the favorite spot you were talking about? I might have to get some of those lures you were using and see if I can catch a walleye other than my accident.
See you on the water.

Went back out today. All look like there healthy. Those big females are getting ready. Water was 48 deg, caught 7 today and 1 rock fish, Only caught 2 smaller males that can home the last 2 days. Those big females are fun best couple days for a long time. Hope we get a good spawn and alot of water up in the weeds for cover.

How is the water level at the ramp? I'm thinking of taking my 18' boat out on Friday but only using the trolling motor. Good idea, yea or nay?

Yea. I took my 18 footer and used the trolling motor out and the big motor in. It is shallow but doable.

The water is up. I launched my 17 footer today and had no trouble. Water is about two feet deep in the channel. I used my motor with prop tilted up, did not even see mud.
MSM's boat is bigger than mine and he got out okay on the weekend. You should be good to go.
