Cat/carp bonanza at UL

Decided to try one more bank tanglin' trip for cats before the weather turned bad. Glad I did. Very calm this a.m. with good cloud cover and NO wind. Arrived in Goshen Bay about 6-ish and had good luck with the cats. Picked up six and lost two 36 inchers. Best two were just over 25 inches.

Had heard rumors that the carp were spawning so took my bow with... glad I did. The carp were active and a real nuisance while fishing for the cats. Decided to bend an arrow and did so in the rocks where I was fishing. Got a couple of carp and then decided to spare my arrow point and move over by the Lincoln launch for a softer bottom... glad I did. Had a blast shooting carp. They are still too dumb to be spooky and after a few flock shots I started looking for bigger fish. Shot plenty-plus for bait and could have shot all day. Most of them had their backs out of the water and they were easy pickins. Got a good supply of fresh carp meat for bait.

After this week when we get some good weather I expect the cattin' to really pick up. I'm ready.

Wow! I hope you told the carp removal guys about your haul this morning, they will definitely want to count it toward the annual removal goal[]

OK, no more kidding. I'm glad you got out and had a good trip! I'm targeting May 1 to get serious this year. Maybe the weather will have settled down by then.

MSM-- Saw one truck parked at the Point but did not see anybody fishing. A couple of guys tried fishing in the launch channel but I was too busy shootin' carp to see if they caught anything.

With the calm seas I was wishin' I would have taken my boat out. I expected to get blow off this morning but the water was very calm... kinda had a gray color to it from the recent winds but not bad. I fished by the Mulberry access point and the area must have been hit pretty hard over the weekend. Lots of pig trash... drink cans, chicken liver packages, plastic bags, and other detritus. I had a bag with me so did a quick clean-up detail. Stopped at the dumpster at Lincoln and met the Mrs. half of this year's camp hosts... nice lady. They are gearing up for a busy season as the summer weather begins to warm.

Looking for good times on the big pond this year. The water level is noticeably higher every time I go there. The "house of ill repute" rock is almost completely submerged now.

The best is yet to come.

gona try to get there this weekend, weather is looking promising so far, I was surprised for how calm it was today with the way they talked about this storm,

I seen there was a new fifth wheel under the cover, last time I was there but nobody was around, Im sure they will have there hands full this summer.
