Strawberry/SC Kokes
#1
Finally got out for the first time this season. Hit Strawberry on Friday night about 6:15pm to try and find some fish for Saturday. It took us an hour or so to find them. On my graph there was a defined thermocline line at about 20 feet and in the clutter it looked like I could see fish. Dragged the squid at 19 ft on one side and 23 on the other. Picked up three nice fish, all about two pounds between 8:00 and 9:00pm.

Back on the water by 6:00am fully expecting to find them where we left them. The fish had other plans. Boated a very nice cutt to start and then had a guest lose a nice Koke near the boat. Worked the south side of the triangle for another 90 minutes and only picked up cutts. Decided to make a run to SC before my buddy's yard pass expired. Worked north of the dam and picked up three kokes and a rainbow. All right around 20 feet. White glow squid with a dipped pink tail was the winner. Dropped off my buddy and went back to work some more. Boated two more nice fish and released a youngster. A few more cutts rounded out the day.

Fish seem to be scattered and a little tough when they are so shallow. The fight put up by these early fish was amazing. Blackened tacos last night and the rest will go on the smoker.

Thanks for the report. Those are some nice kokes. What was your speed for trolling? I was out there on saturday and boated one koke who was at 35ft. I guess the rest of them are pretty shallow like you reported
