A day at Utah Lake

I went fishing at Utah Lake today from shore in the Lindon Boat Harbor. We tried fishing for catfish with hot dogs but were unsuccessful catching any. We moving locations around the bay 3 times from near the docks to in the channel to open water. Where would be the best location right now at Lindon Boat Harbor to catch channel cats, and what bait would you suggest, I plan to go out tomorrow. Any suggestions help!

Use a small bobber 4' above a nightcrawler, shrimp, or fresh cut up carp or white bass.
Keep your bait fairly close to the rocks and don't make any noise on shore. The big cats are in pre-spawn and cruising the shoreline.
When your bobber starts to move off let the cat take it a few feet before you set the hook.

I agree with what SB said. By close to the rocks, that can be 1 to 2 feet away or further. Don't be afraid to be real close. Try baits at different distances until something is working.

We've been having luck with cut chub meat, cut perch meat, and as said before fresh carp or white bass. Moving often when it's slow to locate active fish has increased our catch rate also. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

So we went as I previously mentioned and we did not come out with any catfish. However we were able to catch 2 carp and 3 white bass. The bobber with 4' line below it did not work, but I used it in the main channel for about 15 minutes until the wind was to strong and annoying. So I will go out another time and try that more because I wasn't expecting fish within 15 minutes. I wanted to try it in the main lake, but my friend didn't want to. We saw a guy who had a nice channel when we arrived at the lake so the channels are there just we had no luck in getting them!
