First time to yuba

Thinking of heading to yuba this weekend. I have never fished there and have never caught a pike or walleye. Definitely going to try to target those. Anyone have advice on what setup to use as far as line or liter? Maybe even what may work for best success?

I would use a small wire leader and any perch imitation or carp imitation patterns. I have only targeted pike a couple of times and it has always been form shore. they are fun to catch.

East beach has always been good for walleye trolling bottom bouncers and worm harness in 12 to 20 Fow. Did the best with a #4 Colorado hammered silver spinner blade with some chartreuse beads and one red bead. For the pike I did good throwing green and white tandom blade spinner baits around the shore lines. Also did good throwing J-9 rapala perch. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks for the advice guys! We found lots and lots of carp but couldn't find the walleye or pike unfortunately. We did however manage an albino catfish somehow. That was interesting. Anyway overall a good weekend.

"Unfortunately the water has dropped and the Painted Rocks boat ramp is very shallow. We have put a sign at the end of the ramp and there is 3 feet of water at that sign. We do not recommend launching from Painted Rocks. It won't be long until we close the ramp. The Oasis ramp has plenty of water and is usable. Please pass this word along so people know."

Damn! Well with all the other lakes and reservoirs full this year, I thought they would have gotten some. Oh well looks like tubas off my list for a while.[:/]
