Took the boat out to Strawberry Friday night to see if we could get into the Kokanee. It was our first time fishing the Strawberry side as opposed to Solider Creek so we didn't exactly have the fish locked in. Ran back and forth from Haw's Point to Mud Creek and boy did the finder go crazy.... with consistent 75' of nothing. Didn't mark a single fish. We saw boats on the east side but by the time we decided to start in on a new spot the sun had gone down. Landed one small cut on a downrigger and pink squid.
Tried to go out the next morning but the motor was having some issues, had to load it back onto the trailer and head back home. Definitely frustrating. Pray for the boat/motor, it is currently in the shop. [laugh]
The Marina Lodge worked out very well. It was our first time staying there. The rooms are dated but for $100 or cheaper the location is awesome. There is a nice grill next door that made for a perfect dinner spot prior to hitting the water. We will definitely be back. We didn't look into this ahead of time but boat dock rentals were only $25, definitely worth while for the next time we head up (Saturday morning was a zoo trying to launch on the holiday weekend).
Sounds as though strawberry may be a bit slower for others too, I suppose I'll have to keep on tryin until we find the sweet spot!
