Correct me if i'm wrong but you can camp along the shore of Strawberry, correct? We are heading up Friday and I just figured we'd camp and fish two days.

Yes you can, in the narrows there are some good sights depending on how big of camp you have, the bay where the dam arm and renegade arm on the south side there is a good spot, tent spot for about a 4 man tent flat spot for a stove, fire pit, all in the shade,

I'm also interested. I like to combine camping and shore fishing.
Somewhat related: (includes the feature of accessible by car) When looking over Strawberry Reservoir for the purpose of volunteering with our recent disabled veterans fishing with my focus on shore fishing, I drove the highways and paved roads to three marinas and searched the internet to find a most popular shore fishing place is Haws Point due to the steep drop off to make relatively deep water fishing possible from shore. It made sense to me particularly in hot summer when the fish are at greater depths for the cooler water and it's greater oxygenation. I would have likely fished there except our shore fishing disabled veteran with his family choose Strawberry River which proved to be an excellent choice. I'm still interested in shore fishing Strawberry Reservoir and particularly learning more about Haws Point. My shore camping related question differs from remo_5_0 only in that I'm interested in sites where both camping and driving is permitted though by boat that gets you to any shore there and I'll be more limited by car though it can handle rough terrain where driving is permitted and I'll only be car / tent camping and likely not pulling a trailer. Suggestions and Strawberry shore camping discussions are invited and will be appreciated. [signature]

I'm not the expert; however, I believe the Forest Service (FS) requires camping in their campgrounds in the following areas:
(1) West of the East Side road (road to the dam) (2) East of the West Side road (road to Strawberry Bay Marina and Renengade Marina) (3) South of Highway 40 between the two roads above. You get into the Narrows & you are on Tribal lands. In short, I am not aware of anywhere where you can wilderness camp adjacent to the shore of the Reservoir. I have never heard where the FS has hassled anyone camping on their boat. I know a lot of folks camp in the Narrows & the FS should not hassle you there; however, the Tribe might. I have never heard where the Tribe patrols this area - I might be wrong. Good Luck [signature]

I just used our archives for Strawberry camping. I use them a lot and it's helped my fishing.
As in this linked post, the camping advantage to shore fishing is (already) being there early as in this suggestion from Outfishing13: 'Fish early in the morning as it starts to get light and later in the evening as it starts to get dark with a fly and bubble. Double Renegade worked for us a lot. Try woolly buggers or streamer flies, too. Look for the fish surfacing early early in the morning and later in the evening. Fly and bubble fishing can be great fun." http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/gfo...e;#1018888 Discussion is also here: http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/gfo...e;#1011276 Opening the search up more to not limit it to Strawberry, I get: "Your search for camping shore returned 869 results." Related to our recent topic of eliminating our older archives: We would lose quite a lot of answers in our archives. They're valuable. They're most likely just as useful today as back then. I use our archives and ask the owner of our group to find another way besides eliminating valuable content. Here's an example of an older post on Strawberry Camping and likely just as valuable today that we could lose should we eliminate older archives (I hope not): http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/gfo...ry;#207393 I hope the search feature is useful for strawberry camping information. Thanks, Obsessive Compulsive Fisherman!
That's an excellent example of how valuable we are to each other in our BigFishTackle! Ronald ![]()

Wait so you're saying you can camp anywhere along the shoreline or are the just allowed sections?
