Dave and I fished Electric Lake today. The first order of business was catching our bait. Put out two traps while we were prepping the boat. One trap had about 10 in it and the other trap had 1 red sided shiner in it. Threw the casting net a few times to make sure we had enough bait.
The lake is the fullest I have ever seen it. As a result, my previous honey holes were way too deep and so we had to search for the fish. Moved around slowly while casting the shoreline. It took to almost noon to locate an active school of fish.
We ended up catching seven with about an equal mixture of yellowstone cutts and tiger trout. We lost one at the boat and missed at least 15 bites. Not as productive as I am used to at Electric Lake, but considering how high the water is not too bad. More moss floating around in the water than I recall seeing up there. No recent rains, so the water was crystal clear.
