Thanks for the post. I'm interested as well. I'm willing to travel for them as well. We might be a little late in the season for looking for small bait fish but who knows...thanks!

It's almost time for this years spawn to be just right for bait size. I was down at Scofield about a month ago and there were schools of baby chubs along the shore that were 1/2-3/4" long. Now they will be getting big enough to go collect as bait.
Hope that you find some place to get the bait that you are looking for. [signature]

If you take Mendon Rd (600 S) west towards Mendon you cross the Little Bear River at Spring Creek WMA, there is one other WMA portion along the road too but I can't remember the name. Anyway, there are a bunch of spots there where you can drop a minnow trap with dog food in it and catch up sucker minnows. There is also a ditch along that road that my uncles and I set traps. If you stop at a few homes along the road and ask permission, I'm sure someone will let you drop in a trap for a day. There are also tons of YouTube videos for building traps if you don't want to buy one. It's a lot more economical and time saving than driving a few hours for bait.

You can catch plenty of chubs at lost creek but they are on the large size, 6 to 9". If you have a net or a trap you might be able to catch smaller chubs but we caught a dozen or so of those bigger ones in 20 or 30 min last week.

600 South (Mendon Road) has been closed since February due to a washout a block or two east of the Little Bear turnout. Construction is ongoing, but you are not likely to get daytime access through there for another month or so.
If you want to access the Little Bear turnout and parking area, you would need to approach from the west, through Mendon. Also, Bud Phelps WMA is the other one I think you are referring to.. [signature]

I think Mike could tell you where to pick some up out of Bear Lake, but it's probably a little late in the season now... I wish I could find a good source of chub minnows as well... I have been catching carp minnows with a casting net at the Benson marina, but it's a hit or miss deal and the carp aren't as good of bait... One night I'll find a few and the next I get skunked... So good luck... If you want to know more about the carp PM me and I can fill in a few details... Later J
