I decided to give HN another try. My last four trips over there have produced nothing but a nasty smell. This trip was nothing to write home about but at least I got the skunk off my back.
I fished from 7:30 until 1:30 in my tube. I was using the usual sinking line and size 6-8 leech patterns. The best was a size 6 bead head (green) olive leech. Everything I caught was while I was stripping the line in from the bottom in 12' - 30' of water. I picked up a few green sunfish/bluegill, largemouth bass, and one wiper. All of the bluegill/sunfish and the largemouth were between 6" - 8" long[:/]. The wiper was only 14" but felt good after all the puny panfish.
The water temperature was 63-64 degrees and the visibility in the water of about 8'. The reservoir is 84% full and dropping slowly.
There were a couple of boats on the water and a few shore anglers but not much action.
The sky got dark and I decided it was time to give up and go home. I have had a hard time this year with the wipers but I'll keep trying.
