It is still listed as a private concessionaire on the DWR web page.

There is an article in todays Salt Lake Tribune titled "Utah could get more--and bigger State Parks".
It mentions that State Parks dep. is looking into acquiring recreational property that "may" become available at Echo, and other places.
Doesn't sound real solid, so probably have to wait and see other information.
I for one would like a State Park Marina and facilities at Echo. I get a senior State Parks pass every year and would like better access to Echo for boat fishing and for ice fishing.

Several years ago I asked the BLM, who leases Echo to the current managers, whether it would be possible to take it over as a State Park and improve it. They said at that time that the family running it had a 50-year lease that expired in 2015 I believe. I have not heard whether it was renewed as a long-term lease or a shorter agreement. I for one would welcome it.

I talked with the guy now operating the marina. The leasor has sold to the state who will now build a marina next year. They will close the ramps (both) the end of September, and have to have all the "stuff" cleared out by the end of October. There will probably be no ramp there next summer, due to the construction. This is what he told us last week.

Good long-term news, but will be too bad if we can't use the lake at all next Summer....

This would be awesome! I've been going to east canyon, jordanelle and rockport. Can't justify paying the launch fee when I've payed for a state park pass. From where I live they're all so close to being equal in drive time good ol Echo gets the back burner. It would be nice to be able to launch in the fall as well. Sucks they shut the ramp down when the fishing is getting good
