What a flat fish looks like under water
#1
this was at strawberry 9-29
It is a yellow flat fish that they don't make any more it is about 15 years old
over the years we have got a lot of fish on it, it use to be the first lure that my wife would put on.
how it catches fish I don't know, if you go to fast it goes all over the place but I have got fish going 2 mph. some of the biggest cuts have been on this
I had this down for 30 min did not catch anything this day on it.
I think I'm down 20 feet the first fish are chubs

the first was taken from a 10 min water wolf file
the next was taken from another 10 min water wolf camera file

Interesting video. Reminds me of when I bought my first vote. I purchased it from an elderly man who was giving up fishing so he threw in his two tackle boxes. Both tackle boxes were full of orange flat fish in various shades and some with different color dots. Apparently, he fished with an orange flat fish and nothing else.

Back in the 50's when I was a kid and would go fishing with my dad we always trolled with flatfish. I think we used the green frog pattern the most but he had every size and color imaginable. When he passed away I inherited all of his fishing gear and still have a lot of those old flatfish. We seldom used popgear and I must have 20 different rigs and never use them. I have quite a few spoons too mostly daredevils. Those were the days.

Robert, thanks for sharing the video's. I recently purchased some size 5 & 7 flatfish, and was curious what the action looks like under water.

I read that they are intended to troll slowly, and that you can get good results just drifting the boat with the wind.

You had a hit at 41 seconds on the second video. They were cutties, several follows, but they did not want it bad enough.

Loved the Flatfish growing up. Gold was our best, perch the next, but I still have a couple of the yellow with spots.

You and Kent just described my grandpa's tackle box right down to the handpainted orange flatfish. I also inherited a bunch of his hand painted Daredevils and a bunch of handpainted Triple Teasers.
I don't use them much for fear of losing them which is probably pissing him off right now. I'm sure he would rather they get lost in use rather than sitting in trays doing nothing.
