Fished Pineview yesterday with a fellow member of BFT. Launched as early as we could almost see. Crappie (for sturgeon bait and some for eating) were the target fish. We didn't have a stellar day, but we caught plenty of crappie and around a dozen smallmouth bass, three mudcats and one bluegill. The size of the crappie was encouraging.
It was nice to get out again with Hue and except for early and mid-afternoon wind it was a pleasant day.

What depth were the crappie at? Were they on the bottom or suspended? [fishon]

[#0000FF]Any "close encounters of the toothy kind"?
Last year the tiger muskies were thick around the crappie hangouts...helping themselves to the smaller fish hooked by anglers.
Guess I better point my float tube in that direction one of these days.

Not this trip, but last year we hooked three tigers on the same trip (while fishing for crappie). Two grabbed a crappie after it was hooked and the third one bit the crappie jig (that one got landed the other two eventually let go).

We ended up keeping 13 crappie, 1 injured smallie, and 1 bluegill. I kept 5 crappie and the bluegill for our sturgeon trip.
