Decided last-minute to brave the weather and fish the afternoon bite at Deer Creek. Wind came up, so had to fight white caps a bit. Took a while to find them, but we located some Bows willing to play. Caught them on Rapalas and Jakes. Only about 3-4 boats out there.
On a side note, I spoke to the DWR person at the ramp. She said the Biologists were due to test the reservoir for Quagga Mussels between the 5th & 15th of November. She said they would declare it mussel-free and remove restrictions after that.

Sounds like you earned those fish if you stayed in the caps to get them. I sure hate wind, it's really tough to hold a boat where you want it, not to mention how fast it sucks the heat out of you this time of year. Thanks for the update on the mussels as well. Later J

Heading there tomorrow, hopefully I got the boat running right this time. Been a long year fighting this fuel problem. This will probably be the last trip before the weather turns for me. Figures crossed

Sorry just seen this
We only made it 30 minutes and the boat started acting up again. Went straight from the lake back to the boat shop. Didn't get any fishing in

Rainbow Bay was crazy today. I'm pretty sure they just planted a ton of rainbow trout. Nearly all of the fish I caught had stubby fins. Caught about 25 in an hour. Average size was about 12"-14". I like to experiment with lures and bait, but couldn't find anything they wouldn't hit. Usually, I bring a second pole, but never got time to rig it with how quick they were biting.
Anything green seemed to be the color of the day. If you're not keeping them, set the hook right away. I had two swallow some 1/8 jigs with 3" white grubs so deep that I had no choice but to keep them. I'd hoped they were gonna be so big that it would eliminate the risk of hurting them, but it seems the fish hatchery kept these guys pretty hungry.
I'd have taken pics, but I don't like to take any electronics with me while fishing. Maybe tomorrow if the friend girl decides she wants to go.
