1) No, but if you use soft baits, the wrong rod, the wrong hook, it can be an issue. I use to have issues with cheese baits for Cats, and eggs for Steelhead, but as I become more informed, I learned the best baits, the best methods, and used netting as applicable.

2) Sometimes, especially from shore, but not normally. Still, I can think of a couple of river seams that I were just a few feet outside of my range. The problem is that normally that means you cannot control the line at that range. Oh, ya, a few times surf fishing also.

3) No, but I have several rods, several actions, several lengths. Rods are tools, with the correct tool always being the way to go.

[#0000FF]Not a rush to judgment, but it sounds like you are catering more to the less experienced anglers, rather than coming up with something to make good anglers better.

How long before we see these miraculous new ideas on late night infomercials? Another "Pocket Fisherman"...or some new "Banjo Minnows"? Sadly, a lot of the new things for fishermen are better at catching inexperienced anglers than fish.

1. Depends, most no, but mussels for wiper yes
2. Most no, but once in a while if fishing high mountain lakes without a tube or toon, I have found spots I wish I could cast a little further..
3. No... I'm another addict that has bought more poles than I should have, so I always have one that will work for what I'm going after...
