Great Grandkid Fishing Day
#1
Had another great day fishing with my nine year old grandson. Arrived about 2:30. Using worms under a foam bobber. Got the stringer out first (hopeful) then got his line in the water and was wanting to bait mine up when a fish started messing with his worm so I had to stop. My goal was to have him catch a fish.

He set the hook and reeled in a nice 12 1/2 rainbow. It swallowed the hook so I had to cut the line and re-tie. I got him back in the water and started on mine again when more action happened for this now very excited kid. Again I had to cut the line and re-tie. I couldn't even see the hook, let alone remove it.

Once again we got his line wet and I went back to mine. Didn't have a chance to do a darn thing before he had another one trying to make a meal of his worm. My grandson reeled in another 12 incher, his third of the day in under 30 minutes while I hadn't even got a line in the water.

At last I baited up and got my line wet. I had a bit of action, but had to set my pole down and help the young master fisherman again since that bobber of his kept disappearing from view. When it took off sideways he set the hook.

He brought in his fourth nice fish of the day while I lost the one messing with my worm, along with the worm.

It was now four to zero. I didn't mind since my objective was for him to catch fish, but it would be nice to at least bring one of my own home.

He went exploring while I gave a worm a bath and soon had one hooked. It was small so back it went. So were the next two, but finally I got a keeper. My grandson came back and said he found a nice spot about 200 feet away so we grabbed net, worms and my pole and changed location.

It was a good spot and within a few minutes I had one on. He got the net under it and we walked it back to the stringer. He had another spot that looked good, so we moved once more and he netted my third.

The sun was getting close to setting so we decided to head back to our original location and pack up. He wanted me to catch one more fish, so I baited up and tossed out.

We didn't have long to wait and were both excited as we watched my bobber go under. I raised the rod tip, but missed him, so I let it go still. It disappeared from view but came right back up, then dunked again and headed east so I set the hook and reeled him in.

Got home at dinner time, so you can guess what we had for dinner.

It was the funnest fishing trip ever.
