I received this text from Darin with some more specifics on the whitefish derby he will be putting on. I thought I would pass it along to those that are interested.
“Just a heads up on the dec 1-9th whitefish derby - $20 per person to enter with all money going back to top 3.
Also cutthroat for $25 with a cricket gun win given away, 30L Calcutta Cooler. Also 2 night Camp site stay valued at $59 a night and a one year state park pass for $89. Pass around this info and let’s get everyone there! Let me know if you want to get entered. I can only take 49 total for each contest.

Not really spawning well yet. A very few have been caught so not worth the drive yet, but they should be good by the weekend.

Hey Mike, guess I'm chasing ice up north this weekend so I won't make it until next, unless they get going really good, then I may burn a vacation day and come play. Appreciate your updates. Thanks J

Good luck with the ice Jeff.
We got 9 yesterday and 10 today off of the east side. It was kinda tough fishing. Definitely not a hot bite, but some is better than none. Around the 5th through the 9th it should be in full swing and lots of fun.
All fish were taken in 12-18 FOW right on the bottom with 1/8 ounce jigs with 2.5" black shad or white gulp minnows tipped with a 1" piece of worm. I put the camera down and never saw very many so I suspect they aren't really going very well yet.

Glad to see your into a few. We are going to hit the marina on the west side tomorrow afternoon. I’ll have 2 youngsters with me and don’t want to risk the circus of pulling the boat off by myself on the east side if it’s blowing. Saturday I’ll have another capable adult to help launch so we will be over off the east side somewhere. Maybe we will see you there. What boat you in?

I'll be in either a 27' white Boston whaler with twin black outboards or a 16' smokercraft aluminum boat with a 25 hp Nissan. It just depends on how much hassle I want and if I'm just fishing outside the marina or blasting across to the east side. Good luck out there!

No worries there you just do what you do in that Clark Kent way and it's all good. Hope they're starting to run strong. Yesterday was slow up here so hoping for a good one today. See ya later J
