Read a report that Mill Hollow was frozen. I figured the entire state would be up there today with the lack of early season ice this year. I was wrong. We had the place to ourselves for the first hour or so. Fished in 18 FOW. Most of the fish we caught were suspended around 10’. The fishing was pretty much non stop. Caught Rainbows, Tigers and Brookies.

Sweet, I could be mistaken but I believe you are the first to post an ice fishing report from Utah, of this 2017-2018 season. How think was the ice?

Wow, that is a lot thicker than I would have guessed. That is the lake above Francis, correct?

Just a little side question for ya -- I noticed your jaw-jacker being deployed....is that working for you? I have one, have had it go off a few times, but have never hooked a fish with it....any special tricks that make it work? BTW, I love my Show Down....

I love my show down as well. I don’t use my jaw jacker very much. My buddies I fish with on the other hand do. What I’ve noticed is that using a stiffer rod and smaller lures/jigs works better.

How late did you stay and did it slow down before you left?

We left around 10:30. It slowed down a hair but was still no more than a minute between somebody getting a bite.

Do you think with the recent snow that it will be passable?

I’m guessing the road is probably done now.
