For all of us ice fishermen be SAFE and have a great time. I was in Mantua today so I had to check the hard deck . Entire lake was frozen not sure how thick but give it a few days.

I ran up there too. Talked to these people on the ice and they said it was 3 to 4 inches thick. Saw a guy walking out on it on the east side of the lake.

Wow we better have ice spikes this year, that's glassy smooth... Thanks for the update... Wonder if it really is 3-4", If so it's been growing faster than the ice in the lakes in Cache Valley that are stuck in the fog and staying below freezing since last Monday. I can't believe the ice is growing to slow this year. Thanks for the good news... Later J

Mantua People are on the ice, so I guess its safe. A little open water on the south east end. Ice is clear and slick-- don't know how thick- Use caution -- Game on LL

That inlet area over there is almost always open through the winter. It just grows and shrinks with sunshine and flows.

I ran up there yesterday to check it out too. I talked to the guy that walked out on the south side. Said it was two inches everywhere he went. I find that a little more believable. Not enough for me I'll wait a little bit.

I'm with Hogstalker, it needs to be close to 4" for me, that pond is over my head. Friday or Saturday should be golden and crowded. But I may have to go anyway. Later J

Thanks for checking that out, I thought it seemed to happen too fast. I'll check it out on Wens to see if it has improved but it's not likely to gain another two inches by then.

The east side freezes up slower. I'm surprised it was even two inches where he went out by the inlet.I was just going by what the guys on the west side told me.

I've found over the years that folks estimates can vary largely and they usually over estimate... Best thing I've found is a ice scoop that has a scale on it for measuring the thickness... I find it's usually thinner than most estimate it to be... also found when it comes to my life, I like to drill my own check hole before I get on anything... Just my over cautious nature, but I hope it keeps me alive... Later J

I have my doubts it's 3-4" ANYWHERE on Mantua...I've heard several reports of 1-2" with open water in areas.
Be careful out there.
