The park ranger at Otter creek made a post on the state park Facebook page a couple days ago stating he had walked around on the ice that day but that it was not safe yet. Didn't sound like he drilled any holes and actually checked thickness, but it has been getting pretty hot in the day time over there so it may not gain much til this next cold snap.

I drove by Otter on Friday (12/15). In the morning, there were two guys on the east side of the lake. When we drove back by later that afternoon there was nobody on the lake.

I have no idea how thick the ice was. I do know that it was 9 degrees that morning. I'm guessing that the ice is safe -- it's been getting cold at night in the valley bottoms.

Interesting that while it was 9 degrees that morning in the valley bottom, it was about 39 degrees driving over the Fish Lake to Loa! I don't believe we're going to have ice at Fish Lake over New Year's this year...

Had a friend Fish otter creek today he said it was good fishing and the ice was 3" thick on the northern side. The far north channel is still open water. but the ice was a little sketchy. He said you can feel it surge and drift but stayed dry.

I fished a cove by the damn today. 5" of ice. Girlfriend and I limited out in a few hrs. Edges get a little iffy after it warms up but not a big deal. Main lake still has some open water.
