We got up to Echo yesterday to find no snow and very little ice to pull our sleds down to the lake, the entire ramp was bare. Once to the ice edge we found 4 to 5 ft of open water, depending on where you tried to get on, before you got on solid ice. It did not look like the edges had frozen over night. The ice was 5.5 to 6" thick and slick with no snow on the ice. After reading the forecast for the next week, my guess is the season is over[Sad], except for those fishing the higher elevation lakes. Might just break out the boat for next week.

Sad! [Sad] Did the season even start?

I had three good outings, but that is not enough for me! I keep looking at the weather report from multiple sources several times a day hoping for an arctic blast...

One positive: Saves the wear and tear on my ice gear.

Been seeing the same thing here, the ice keeps getting soggier and thinner each day... Only got a skim of ice overnight, so it's not rebuilding at all... Edges are getting nasty, weak and flooded... Hope we make February but not sure we will this year... Sad deal, I enjoy the ice a bunch and haven't hardly gotten started with what I wanted to try this year... Come on bring a little more ice... Later J

How was the fishing Curt?

Very bad, only one trout and others we talked to had caught nothing. Makes we wonder if the raising water level and warmer water is effecting the catching.[:/]

That sucks since its one of two places to catch perch this year. Guess PV is the ticket. Hoe deep were ya fishing? 30-35 seems to be the PV depth.

We started off in 28 to 34 FOW then moved both ways, as shallow as 14 Ft to as deep as 60 Ft. The guy we talked to, as we were leaving, said the same thing. Just wasn't a good day there and with no snow and the edges being so bad, I can't seeing it getting any better at this point, at least for Echo.
