All I know is what others have posted here, which was safe ice down to the confluence, but not much south of here. With highs approaching 50 today and tomorrow, be careful. Please give us a report and good luck!

I just flew over. People were fishing at the confluence but the ice was breaking up south of there. I'll post photos in a moment.

One picture is looking north at the edge of the ice south of the confluence. The other is of some people fishing. I was surprised how many people were fishing this evening. I would upload more but it takes so long.

Winter storm(icy rain and snow, 20 mph wind) coming in this weekend, according to some locals that I talked to out on the ice Thursday.
Fished across from Lost Dog and fishing for LT’s was slow. Three fish caught from 15 fisherman. Fished from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Ramp iced in (30 yds. out) at Buckboard, no one on it, unsafe.
Open water all the way South.

Been snowing all day about a foot now. Didn't make it to lost dog or firehole. Fished swim beach again from 11 to 3 did ok 1 bow 5 pups and 1 nice what looked like a cutbow temp is around 20 to 28 degrees pending where we were . Very little to no wind there was small pockets of ice starting to form all along swim beach I'll try to add some pics of fish

When you fish from shore, what is your go to method?
Thinking of going back over to ice fish around fire hole/confluence on Tues.
Thanks for the report.
Where do you stay. Browning Hotel?

I was just using a slip rig with cut bait a water bubble filled with water 1 small split shot and about 3 feet of leader I was fishing one around 30 yards from the bank and one as far out as I could cast and both were catching fish .. a few of the guys i was fishing with were using power bait and had good secses for a few pups .. the burbot were only hitting after the sun went down I did try to use a glow tub at night from shore with no luck to many snags trying to fish slow in the rocks I would suggest you buy your cut bait before you head up seemed to be a huge price jump from last time I was here and it seemed like you only got half as much . The roads were pretty bad snow pack and wind drifted today

The ice hasn't advanced much farther south than last week, though I was starting to see ice patches in other parts of the lake. There were several groups of people fishing on the ice.

We had time to venture around the east side to scout, and checked spots up to just east of the skunk cliffs, and we didn’t find any safe ice. There was a little ice in the back of a couple bays, like by the upper marsh creek boat ramp, but it wasn’t safe and most of the bays are Wide open. We are staying at the flaming gorge resort tonight, but will head up to Lost Dog after checking in at Manila tomorrow.

Thank you all for your reports on the flaming gorge ice. I wanted to get a little more specific on conditions. I am taking my 80 yr old father and his friend with a bad knee out this next week. I was planning on going to lost dog as it appears it will have good ice. I would welcome other suggestions, but it seems like lost dog will have fairly easy access from the truck. How slick is the ice? Slipping and falling would be a bad idea for my dad or his friend. Any help all of you could give would be awesome.
