Willard - again-
#1
This is 4th trip to Willard so far this year. And I'm doing better than this time last year. Flotilla day I boated 1 nice Cat. Today I got on the water a bit late, 1130 ish. Thought I would try out one of the new lures the wife got me last year. Lines set, headed toward the island from south marina, slow trolling about .65 mph. On the water less than 30 minutes, the new new lure took a soft hit but kept playing out line. Thought it was a bottom snag. Nope, nice Walleye [laugh] YAY !! No skunk today and a good meal next week to boot.
Trolled up and around the island, and zig-zaged from island to the feed lot. Sat of the feed lot in about 12 fow, lots of fish marking on the sonar. Put out 2 bait lines. One with mussels, one with worm (hoping for a Cat). Line with a worm took off towards Brigham. Nice Wiper. In just about 2 hours on the water, 2 fish boated. I call that a good day, for me anyway. Was going to release the Wiper, but he swallowed the hook so far down he was gill hooked and bleeding. So he will grace my dinner table some nite next week.
Left the south marina about 3:30 P.M. saw lots of bank tanglers along the inlet dike. Several looked to be toting out heavy buckets.........of what....I don't know. But I'm wondering if they are the "providers" for the "fish meat" add someone posted on KSL.

Good job. When I was leaving the south marina I noticed a fish cop checking licenses and catches along the inlet. Good to see them out and about.

Good job Forest, I'd say that was a great day!!! I fried up my wiper Saturday and man I love those fish... Best fight ever and then they eat up so well... They were so fat this year, I really had to trim the red flesh because it had a bunch of fat too and it seems fish fat doesn't eat well... But with that slight trim job, that fish was incredible... So now I need to return and catch me another one...

Glad you got ya a couple good meals in one trip... Hope it's only the start of a successful summer for ya... Catch ya later... J
