We had heard that the ice was off the Huntington Canyon ponds so a couple of us took our tubes and headed up to Mammoth.
We launched about 10:00 and fished until about 3:00 using size 6 and 8 bead head buggers and leeches in brown/green and plum on fast sinking lines. When we arrived there were already three boats and a pontooner on the water. There were also a few shore fishermen, most using bait.
We picked up all tigers from 13" to 19" long with most of them in the 15" - 16" range. The water temperature was 57-58 degrees and the visibility in the water of about 4'. The reservoir level is 78% full and rising.
As is typical for us fishing for tigers, we missed many more fish than we got to the net so it was a fun day. We didn't expect the fishing to be this good, this early in the season.[

There were a lot of folks staking out their campsite for the holiday weekend. It is going to get busy up there for the next few days.[:/]
