I'm looking to take my wife up fishing this week after work. We will be fishing from the shore at Strawberry. I haven't had much sucess in the past from the shore up there. Does anyone have an suggestions of places to fish from and what is the best way to fish from the shore? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Around Haws Point is a good place to shore fish. Either go as far south as you can go, or off of the north shore are good areas to try. At this time of year, you want to find deeper water. PowerBait, off of the bottom, a marshmallow and a crawler, off of the bottom, will catch some. If you have access to any minnows a minnow under a slip bobber will catch the cutts.

Take Highway 40 past Strawberry until you think you must have gone too far.Turn right on road 090 toward Soldier Creek Dam. Just a little way down that road turn right on road 745. This road will take you down onto a point that sticks out into Soldier Creek Bay. Work your way back north toward the highway. Anywhere along there should be good. If you like spin fishing, we have done well with Kastmasters, Jake's Spin-A-Lures and Blue Fox Vibrax. You could fish one rod with bait and cast spinners with the other. Be sure to know the special fish size regulations. Have fun!

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.
