sitka anyone?
#1
Just got home from my Alaska cruse, wow great time. My wife and friends had lots of shore activities, sea kayaking, glaciers, gardens, and Fishing in Sitka.!! We were on Holland Alaska cruse lines. Great service, but lots of expenses on board, over the room costs.
Sitka was with a charter called Sitka alaska outfitters. Very good boat, custom, see pictures, great service and good fishing. I chose not to fish for salmon, only had 6 hours to get back on board my ship. They do great river fishing too.
Caught lots of Black rock fish, about 12 and kept 4. Lots of Quil backs, 1 large yellow eye and one big ling cod. Taking home 12.5 lbs of fillets frozen and shipped. Cost lots of cash to process freeze and UPS home.
The ship captain was very good in locating and helping with the fishing.

Sounds and looks like you had a great time! I stayed and fished from a lodge on Sitka, we caught Silvers, halibut, Yelloweye, and rock fish. Wasn't going to go but my wife convinced me to go as I might not be ble to go in a couple of yrs for whatever reason (health) , I am thankful to her.

Old is the key word with yelloweye. South of the Canadian border they are protected because the grow slow and do replenish very fast. My son got one on a charter off the Oregon coast that would have been 12 -15 pounds and the captian said it would have been 60-70 year old.

Thanks fo sharing.
