Strawberry Kokes - 1 last time (Wed.)
#1
Okay, so I told Brookie last Sat. was my last day, but I lied....there was a cancellation, so I "HAD" to help a fellow fisherman out, and fill in the empty seat on his boat for this morning....we both did well on the Kokes; good sized fish, all pink stage except for 2 smaller ones that also got added to my creel on ice....I'm still 'King of the Cutts', esp. when I'm not trying for them...but the one 20+"er did put up a good fight.....pink or orange X Skull Fly (doctored up) worked well, as did Radical Glow Sand stinger, Yakima candy cane squid, and pink/white crappie killer -- all doctored up....Very fun A.M., best part was my buddy trying to net a 'near boat, flying Kokanee' for me, and actually netting it in air....good job Dave!....calm waters, no sun, pleasant temp. ... 2 fishing solunar charts said 'poor' fishing day today, but it turned out good, and we got to chat with LikeTrolling coming back in also for more good trolling advice....all in all, a very good A.M. for my last Koke trip of the season....Guluk...

Good job JMOR. I was there also with the wife. We turned back 3 that were pretty red but brought home some nice, still fairly chrome kokes - in by 0930. Talked to Robert as we went in. Robert's boat had limited and was jigging for cutts so I think a pretty nice day for all.

We still have the camp up there so I think 2 more times on the water - Saturday my nephews want one last trip and I have Monday off so I am not done yet. It has been a great summer.

Wednesday was better fishing for us than we anticipated. We met with Robert at launch and again when we were departing and he was targeting big cuts having caught his koke limit and not yet ready to leave. We did catch a lot of cuts, even one almost slot buster at 22 inches, but still managed to get our koke limits before 9AM, cant complain about that. They weren't as large as some have been reporting, but still good sizes averaging about 18". Used a variety of set ups be tween squids, wedding rings nd few thing-a-ma-jigs we've created some purple, some reds were best, white was not working.

The overcast was nice - no sunglasses needed, it was just a nice, calm day for sure.

Ours were not too red, yet. These are going into the canner.

Sounds like you've been doing it right all season....and I like the idea of your setting up camp there....I need to look into that for next year.....when you leave the area, are you just leaving your boat at your camp site 'til you go back to fish again? ....

If we ran into LikeTrolling coming out, we probably crossed paths there also...wish I could have met you and Brookie....I try to make it a habit of asking anyone I talk to if they are BFT ers, but didn't get a chance to talk to anyone else before we left....glad you did well also....it's fun trying new combinations, creations of your own, something different....looking forward to next year there, but first there's some boating at Rockport, East Canyon, Willard Bay, and then I'll be ready for the hard deck for a few months....all good....Guluk....

I leave the trailer there all season. The boat stays there most of the season. I just bring a 5 gal container of gas each time I come. We have been fishing Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and scattered days off pretty regular. The wife is retired so she stays up more, but I am still working for another couple years.

Most likely, but it was still a bit dark for seeing people clearly. We are in white and silver Hewescraft with a gray top - BFT stickers on each side window and our truck is silver F150. Of course our big black poodle Annie is usually there, but she had her annual Dr. appt and couldn't attend this time.

since you likely reside up this way, by the waters you like, you should be sure to attend our Willard Flotilla every spring - its a great to place for putting faces to many who post - its also a great place to chat fishing as well as techniques.

Thanks for the great info. I'm new to kokes. Can you give me an idea on depth and areas to try? My fishfinder isn't the best so I'm hoping for a depth to start with. Thanks and PM me if you like.
