Deer Creek/Jordanelle Question
#1
I have been fishing for Kokanee at Strawberry all summer and the posts here have helped me tremendously since this was my first year. Now that it has ended I would like to troll Deer Creek or Jordanelle but have no idea what works, best areas of the lakes etc. I have the gear used for Kokanee, can the same be used for trolling these lakes? Any nuggets would be appreciated!!

Yes most of the dodger/squid combos will work at Deer Creek. Other set ups that have worked over the year are Rapalas or pop gear and small lures or bait.

This time of the year some people will fish with bait up by the inlet or if you want to troll just start looking for the fish hanging around the thermocline.

I rarely fish Jordanelle so I can't help with that place.

You will catch both kokes and trout at Jordanelle on the same gear you used at strawberry.

what the others said works keep changing till you find what works
this is one set up that works I like a 4.5" light green dodger with about 12" leader
with shrimp on top hook and worm on bottom hook. you can make your own spinners they like green.

pro troll makes a KOKANEE KILLER HOLOGRAPHIC BLADE WATERMELON
that works I put shrimp on one hook and worm on the other can use with are with out a dodger use a green dodger there leader is pre tied.
you need to keep changing speed till you find the speed your fishfinder will show how deep the fish are.
at deer creek there is two boat ramps you can start fishing right away look for other boats work toward the west side
what I do sometimes is drive about 4 mph looking for fish on the fishfinder

this is for rainbows
