Provo boat harbor fishing help
#1
I am sick of the algae down here around Lincoln Beach and have decided to try around the state park/harbor at Provo. It takes the same time to drive to either spot. Any ideas where a good place is for a bank tangler after channel cats? I think I'll try off the dikes but not sure if I should fish the channel side or the lake side or the end of the dikes. I caught some baby white bass but I'm not sure where to deploy them. I'll be using bobbers to avoid hangups in the rocks.

I would suggest fishing out in the lake on the end of either dike. You shouldn't need bobbers to stay out of the rocks. Rocks are only on the dikes and you should be casting well beyond the dike. Also, if a boat should happen to come by you are likely to be cut off if you are using a bobber.

Thanks, Kent, I'll give it a try; it's good to know about the rocks. I like a bobber because I can keep the bait just up off the bottom where cats like to cruise. And I've become pretty adept at reeling in to keep out of the way of boats. Have had one bobber run over but somehow the line wasn't cut.

My favorite and most successful area at Provo Harbor is between the dike ends in the channel. I have limited out there several times in the past. Walleyes and cats. My thoughts are that the two point areas make for a good ambush. Use one pole for bait fishing and one for casting Curley Tails for whites. Watch out for rebar sticking out dike. Would hate to see a fellow fisher person speared!
