Strawberry invite for tomorrow (Tuesday)
#1
I will be fishing Strawberry tomorrow with a fellow BFTer. Leaving Bountiful area at 5:00 AM (returning late afternoon) and heading up Provo canyon. If anyone would like to join us and share gas and parking expense ($30 each - total of $90) send me a PM.

Kent, if you get nobody else more deserving or more eager, I'll go. I'll check back here at 6 pm for the final decision.

It was fair. We found them in a couple of places but not where we found them on Saturday.

Details were that Kent had cut chub chunks, and caught fish left and right. Barry had various other bait options and caught a few. I came without any bait due to the late invite, and had to borrow bait to get anything at all. Did manage to get one 'bow on a naked chatterbait. And a nice cutt on a begged chub chunk.

Broke in two new virgin rods/reels.It was 39° at launch. THEY had coats. I kinda shivered in shirtsleeves.

We drove to Renegade and fished the south end of Strawberry. We were the only boat to launch from that boat ramp that day. What a change from The Strawberry Marina.

We first tried where we found them on Saturday and didn't get a bite. We then moved to an area that I often have success in a month or two and strangely we caught 3 rainbows and one cutthroat. It took a couple hours to catch them, so we moved again. First back to where we started to see if the fish had moved in -- and they hadn't.

We then moved further to a place that has treated me well on many trips. My first cast resulted in a decent cutt. My second cast caught another. It slowed down considerably from that, but we still managed to catch fish for the next couple of hours.

I then decided that we would try to find Old_Coot's geocache, which ended up being a big mistake. Not only did we not find it, but Rocky took a tumble down the hill. Received a text from Ralph this morning only to find out that he has removed his geocache. ARGH!

Finished the day fishing a cove in The Narrows that has provided a few fish on other trips. Surprisingly, it held even more fish than usual, but it had been a long day already, so we didn't fish there very long.

Wish you would have said something, because I would have gladly shared my bait.

You wouldn't have heard me, you deaf old fart!

The tumble was scary. Stepped over a log going downhill when the lower foot slipped out. Barely avoided catching my upper leg under the log, which would have snapped it, but had to twist sideways to get that leg clear. That meant I went head over heels down the hill. Managed to get on my back to stop, but jammed my wrist in doing so. Hurts this morning, as expected. So do the spots that landed on rocks. Not doing that again.

I totally missed the fall. I arrived as you were getting up. Sorry to hear that you are still injured, but glad that it wasn't as bad as it could be.

Me, too. Have some great things lined up for the next six weeks, and a snapped leg would have derailed it all.

LOL, you did about as well with my bait as I did with it. [Wink]

Glad to hear you are OK after the fall. Are you good for golf tomorrow?

Pleasure to fish with you guys yesterday.

I'm perfectly good for my usual bad golf, yes!

we were at the Strawberry Marina not a lot of boats
we were trolling way north, we got in the cuts I think if we had of stayed over them we could have got over 50 they were deep down 35 to 55 feet in water 60 to 70 feet deep

but I'm still after kokanee they are getting real red. kokanee like water temp of 52 deg the 52 deg temp was up 5' from where it was last week

we got some big cuts about 5 that were 22" none over and a lot 19 to 20"

I made some Minnow Jerkbaits 4.3 in long that have blue glow as the base coat they work good I have used them 3 other days using a downrigger to get them down
there have been times have had a cut on all the time
PM me your address and I will make two and give to you
they may not work for you they dive about 5' need to come up with a way to get them down deeper and not lose the action.

It wasn't so keen seeing it from the inside, so to speak. Especially the "plant kidney on rock" part followed by the "jam wrist into ground" part.

And I blew the dismount. 4.5

Something similar happened to me year ago Labor Day.
Scofield dam with cast net. Foot caught in long grass causing a fall onto rocks in river. Ended up needing shoulder surgery and 7 mo. with very limited use. Still having problems with it.
Hope yours turns out better than my tumble.

I'm completely fine, thanks for your kind thoughts. Was sore Wednesday, but played a full round of golf Thursday, walking. Still a little residual stiffness in my wrist, I just now realized. But very little.

I have a kidney ultrasound scheduled with the VA soon, as coincidence would have it. Wonder if I'll still have a bruise? (Nothing to worry anybody, they just want to take a look.)
