Joes Valley - Good news for boaters
#1
I fished JV today from my tube. A contractor is in the process of extending the boat ramp. The water level is at 49% full and the existing ramp has been out of the water for some time.

I launched across from the Sportsman's Lodge at 10:00 and fished until 3:00 picking up a few of the recently stocked rainbows, a small splake, and one cutthroat. I used both medium and fast sinking lines with size 6-8 bead head leeches and crystal buggers. I did have a few other fish on but only one good sized one. The fish all came from water between 8' - 20' deep and many were within casting distance from shore.

The water temperature was 38-40 degrees and the visibility in the water of about 7'. There is a little ice starting to form along the face of the dam and in the northeast bay where I launched.

There were a few shore anglers and one other tuber while I was there.

The weather couldn't have been better for a day in December, 20's and no wind.[Smile]

Looks like a beautiful day! I've put away the float tube for the year, but I'm glad you're still catching fish.

I fished JV today for about an hour. I was by the old boat ramp. I threw a small gold cast master for about 30 minutes and bounced it along the bottom. I caught 2 small splake and missed one other.

VERY good news about the boat ramp being extended! This is very much needed on low water years like this. Good news about the snow level too. We need all of the water that we can get. Nice work putting some fish in the net as well! Thanks for the report ;0) Fred K.

As long as there’s still open water I’ll keep going. My wife says I‘m not very smart. [bobConfused]

Your welcome.

They are extending the ramp another 50’.

That makes it better for us old float tubers to launch too. [Wink]
