Good luck and hope you can land another slot buster. I assume you'll be taking a snowmobile? I plan on going on Saturday with mine.

Fishing was very slow today, I marked fish all day and about emptied my tackle box but they just weren’t interested! Watched them in the hole just swim up and swim away! Ended the day with 2 fish!

Was my slowest outing of the season but still better than a poke in the eye!

Last time I went I did not take my snow mobile, but I wished I had (becasue I have one Smile )

I want to move around some more on the ice and having a snowmobile will enable that. Last time I was there (last Friday) we had the same scenario, saw a lot of fish on the finder and visibly, but they were picky.

Ice was nice and thick when I was there, but I have actually never had a sled on the ice. Is it thick enough for that?

Thanks in advance.

So far in my fishing life when I have a window to fish, I go. I never pay attention to any conditions except weather like snow/rain or wind. Looking at the forecast in Croydon I see it dropping into the teens so I expect a solid ice day.

Is there something I am missing about conditions that are promoting lockjaw?

There is plenty of ice for a sled out there for sure I would’ve taken one but I gotta replace a tire on the trailer first. I am a lot like you the conditions don’t really matter to me if I’ve got time i’m Headed fishing somewhere. I went to the berry in terrible conditions and ended up pulling in the biggest fish of my life! But I’m looking forward to another shot at lost creek again for sure!

Do you ever check out the Solunar fishing charts? 24th was listed as a 'Poor fishing Day'....I for sure don't always agree with their predictions, but sometimes it seems to be right on....sometimes I'll just look at those charts when I get home, then see who was right, and sometimes I can use that as my own excuse for lousy results....I had similar results yesterday (24th) at Rockport...lots of lockjaw....Guluk...and keep going when you can...

Yes I have looked at those calendars before but don’t really follow them, I spoke with a fella on my way off the ice he found a spot 100 yards away from me where he was marking consistent fish and said he hadn’t killed it but was getting consistent bites which was more than I was experiencing so who knows one way or another if that all plays into the grand scheme of things but it definitely wouldnt stop me from getting out into it

During my last trip there (the post link is below) I was able to do some sight fishing becasue I could see the fish through my hole at about 10 FOW. What I saw was the fish often bit the tail of my jig (a white soft plastic tube jig) which would feel like a real bite and then I would rip the jig out of the mouth. In the two times that I have been to Lost Creek this year, I have missed way more fish than I have caught probably due to this behavior. So tomorrow I am going to try a tighter soft plastic jig (i.e. one with less of a tail) so when the fish bites there may be a higher chance at a hook set.

Fingers crossed.

Yes I would agree with that the smaller the jig the better for them!! Best of luck to you I will be using that method maybe on Sunday if I can get up there then
