We blasted off and traveled a short distance hoping to duplicate the success we last year in CFF#1. It took an hour before we caught our first fish, a 12 inch fat largemouth on a soft plastic. We tried to use it as a clue but had no luck. We finally moved to where we knew there was lots of bait and in a little bit I finally caught our second fish, a 4.99 largemouth on a dropshot in 13 FOW. At this point, I thought we might have figured something out. Using that we found some fiah and in four casts I caught a large stripe, a yellow bass, and then a few casts later I hooked a large fish that appeared to be rolling like a catfish or large drum. It was pulling on me and appeared my drag was too tight so I made the mistake of flipping the bail and giving the fish less than a foot of line, which was enough for him to get some slack and jump. As the fish jumped and threw the hook, I got a first hand look at the mouth of a largemouth bigger than the 5 pounder we had in the livewell. After a few expletives, we went back to work, but other than a yellow cat did not catch another fish.
Disappointed as we through everything we had at them, but blessed with the one decent fish. Ended up in the Top 10 and looking forward to CFF #2.
