Fish Lake 2/26 & 27th
#1
David and I made the long drive to Fish Lake. First morning accessed the ice at Doctor Creek. Except for the surface being torn up from the ATVs during the perch fest it was smooth sailing all the way to the east shore. There was a couple feet of snow and maybe 3 inches of slush. Wind came up enough that I decided to spend part of the day in my shack. Fishing was good for rainbows, splake and a couple tiger trout.

Yesterday, we launched from Joe Bush and again headed over to the east side. Encountered zero slush where we fished. Catching was off the charts for perch, splake, rainbows and a couple tiger trout.

Another fun outing with David and it was wonderful having a snowmobile to reach the east side in about 3 minutes instead of the usual 45 minutes (each way) or so of exhaustive walking.

What lures/bait did you use? And how deep were you fishing?

Pat's fire tiger jig, smaller tube jigs, Kastmaster type lures, and various other jigs. Tipping with a chunk of chub, a chunk of perch or meal worms. Best fishing was in about 35' of water, but they could also be caught in deeper water at various depths.

It was a great trip for sure Kent. Wed was the best day I've had for trout fishing all ice season. To top it off with great company and such beautiful scenery was just awesome. First time at fish lake, first time catching a splake, first time using an ice saw, super fun! Definately looking forward to doing it again!

I should have used more sun screen, my face looks like a tomatoe today Lol! [blush]
