I went fishing last friday at the outlet. The fishing was very off and on all day. It was great when I got there and I caught five or six nice crappie right off. Then at noon another guy showed up and it got hot again for about 1/2 an hour and I caught 4 more nice crappie and 1 nice bluegill. after that a pretty big crowd showed up and the fishing got really slow. I think it had something to do with how noisy some of them were and due to the skittish nature of crappie. Anyway I continued fishing until around 6:30. About 30 minutes after everyone left and there were only two of us still out there the fishing got hot again and I caught a bunch more crappie and then left. It was a great break from the studying(well almost I did have my chemistry book with me and when the fishing was slow I studied) , but now I have to get back to the studying,

P.S. Most of my fish were caught on either a pink shrimpie or an orange ratfink. Chartreus Ice flys also seemed to work well. I didn,t have any, but the guy next to me did and seemed to do well.

Looks like a White Bass snuck in your bag. Thanks for the report Jed. I always like catching a few different species in one trip.

So do the crappie hang around that area in the Jordan River all year long or only during the winter?
I fished that exact spot from shore last year in the summer in evening, and all we got was 1 or two tiny little channel cats.

I don't know. It was my first time fishing there ever. I would imagine largemouth hang out there in the summer. I would bet it depends on what time of the year. I would imagind in early spring the crappie should still be there due to colder water temps.

take the I-15 south to the second lehi off ramp ( exit 282 i believe ) turn right onto main street stay on main street unto you come to 9550 W. and turn left ( if you croos the river you 've gone to far turn around ) stay on this road it will curve to the right and then back to the left and you will see a parking lot on your right pull in and park look south and you will see a drive way there is a no tresspassing sign just ignore that and walk down this drive way to the end that is before you walk into the houses ( dont )at that point look to your left and you will see a trail going down from there there is a well defined trail you can follow to the outlet hope that works for you good luck if you go
if you go get there early the bite is better take a board monday there was some open water and thin ice around the edges but about 14" of ice when you get on it fish tight to the grates and walk carefully it was looking like swiss chesse from all the holes
