I am thinking about buying mapsend topo for my magellan gps. Has anyone used this product? Any advice? Anyone interested in splitting the cost?

I own the software and find it extremely useful. It is amazing how much detail they have -- those satellites must have been busy taking lots of photos.

unfortunately with both garmin and magellan gps/map software, the software is registered to a particualr unit, and no sharing is possible . . once you load the cd onto a unit, it wont work with any other unit . . .

welcome to the boards!

Welcome IceRod. It is unfortunate but Southernman is correct. I have a Garmin Rhino 110 and couldn't share with one of my best buddies.[Sad]

I use Mapsend Topo for the Magellan. I'm also a computer geek and can guarantee there is nothing technically stopping people from sharing the Magellan or Garmin software. However, the license agreement (the law) prohibits it. MapSend Topo is a great addition to a Magellan. If you plan on keeping the Magellan for a while, I'd recommend buying it. You may be able to find a deal on EBay or something to reduce the cost. [Image: gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=3010;]

Thanks for the info guys. I found it on ebay at a good price. I am sure that I could hook my gps to my comp and download to it, then give the cd to a friend to do the same on his comp and gps. Of course that would be unethical, almost as bad as stealing from Bill Gates.
