echo today
#1
I took my 5 and a half year old grandson along with my nephew and his 4 year old boy to echo this morning. Got there around 10 and fished until 12:30 or so. was straight south of the boat ramp in 40 feet of water. the kids couldn't keep the perch off their hooks. we used green rats
with a waxie right off the bottom. perfect day, sunny with intermittent cloud cover and no wind-just right for the little guys. the ice is thin at the edges so wear hip boots if your a little? overweight like I am. I went through the ice over my boot on the way out AND on the way in. If someone wants to perform a public service a 5-6 foot 2x4 or its equivalent would be appreciated. It looked to me that the echo and lost creek area did not get the snow we did in the valley last weekend; hence, I'm hungry for trout so it will likely be lost creek for me this weekend- as joe walsh says "it's been good to me so far"!

Hi there HCD
I was at Echo late monday at about 2:30 pm and saw that someone did put out a plank about 6 ft. long a little north of the boat ramp but I got a chuckle when I look at the end of it and saw a hole where some had broken through the ice. The good thing I did have my hip waders and was able to get on the good ice. the bad thing was I only got five perch and at about 3:00 pm it die. Oh well so goes life. I would like to get back to Lost Creek if the roads would let me. But this Saturday I will most likely start at Echo for the perch and any stray trout that comes by then try to get to Lost Creek after I limit out on perch. [Wink]

I'd love to fish1on, but have plans to hit lost creek-it is quite a bit closer and I'm still feelin' confident about catching the "aquaman monster" that got away a couple of months ago during HFT's fishing party. You know you could always go to the Bear on sunday and fish with us at lost creek on saturday (and catch "trophy 'bows")-who knows you could end up with the aquaman "walter"!

Hey There Hydrotek,
I remember when you limited out at Echo (a while ago) while we fished together for a couple hours and I think I caught two!

I saw a plank as well a couple of weeks ago, but it was sure gone today! I could have used it. After thrashing about in the water and also falling down on the ice on the way out I tried talking my nephew into laying down so I could use him as a human bridge-alas, to know avail! Oh and by the way, the ice is pretty thick-no arrhythmia this time using the hand auger but it is a good 18 inches thick!
