I went fishing at Lindon boat harbor for some LMB which I caught three... then walked up to the north side of harbor on the dike to the mouth of the harbor in those wind-swepted waves for 'eyes. I caught one which is a small male about 16 inches. Out of the corner of my eyes, and the wind howling, a boat came out of the mouth of the harbor into the lake!!!!!!!!!!!
I was shocked to see that so early and with a thin sheet of ice still out on the middle of the lake... Two guys in the boat were just having fun driving it on the safe side of the ice for about half a hour, then it came back into the mouth of the harbor. As it passed me, I asked "how deep is the water in the mouth and in the harbor?" They replied that they don't know as they do not have a sonar/fishfinder on board... Yikes!
I told them that last fall the mouth was only a foot deep... they opened their eyes wide, looked at each other then proceed to look at the boat to see if the prop was dredging mud... there was no dirty water trailing... Very good indicator the water has come up!!!!! That's the surprise news of the year!!!
