Just above Bridal Veil falls. If you walk up you can see the old sign that reads (or at least used to read) Olmstead Diversion. The pool just above holds some nice Rainbows and Browns. The pool just below holds nice Browns, Walleye, and Carp.

It's actually nearly a mile (1/2 mile?) above Bridal Veil. If you turn off at Bridal Veil, then follow the old highway along the river up the canyon another 1/2 mile you'll come to a park, at Upper Falls (I believe it's called Upper Falls Park). Upstream from there about another couple hundred yards is the Olmstead.

Looking down from the main highway it's on the right. There's another diversion dam farther downcanyon, but it's on the north side of the highway. It's called the Murdock Diversion Dam. People are always swimming at this one in the summer.

walleyes and carp below the Olmstead? That's a interesting idea... it's a long shot from Utah Lake and then walleyes and carp would have to jump through the hoops from deer creek... That's a mighty interesting idea... you sure of that?

Although I've never caught a Walleye in there, I have been told by many that they have. Remember that Walleye are primarily a river fish. I have caught numerous Carp in there. Not monsters by anyone, but 2-3lb. I tail hooked one with a jig, man what a fight!

Supposedly they could also potentially come down the spillway in high water years from Deer Creek. I've never heard of walleyes up that high though.

I haven't heard of many being caught above Olmstead so I would imagine that they made the long trek up from Utah Lake. About 15 (or has it been 20) years ago when the dikes along I-15 had to be put in, the lake itself was up to, and in some places over the freeway. That would have made it a lot less of a trip for them. The last time I fished there was before they closed Bridal Veil. That gives you an idea of how long ago that was. They were just starting on the road widening project if I remember corectly. This was before most of the parks that now litter the canyon were there. Bridal Veil was still a "pull-out" parking lot. The river ran it's original route...... You get the idea.

I caught a walleye in the blue ribbon section of the lower Provo back in I think was 1989 . It weighed 7.6 pounds and was 27.5 " . I hooked it couple 100 yards down from the Deer Creek dam in the drought years . They are in there . And you should see the carp that are huge in there too . Some of them would fill up my wheel barrow , but you can't fish that area anymore . I did keep the fish for fear it was eating all the trout . LOL Back them , I only trout fished and release all . See pic in the wall of fame on Big Fish Tackle . I hooked the fish in june . I do believe it came over the spillway at Deer Creek .
