Pineview mixed bag from shore
#1
I am way behind catching up on yalls posts. Been doing some ranch work that had me off grid ....but this is a fishing post not a what did I have for dinner post...

Had my student angler club at Willard trying for cats, but it was slow for us so we pretty quickly moved to Pineview...

Well the boys gave that Tubedude tackle a good workout - first with a nice mess of smallmouth, then crappie and wrapped up with a few perch. Oddly no gills. We fished multiple locations with success. The smallies  loved dem pony jigs and some wobble jigs amongst other. They threw alot of Pat's differnt jigs with various trailers but really had success with a small senkos rigged wacki on his flat head jigs.

Crappie loved his smaller jig head with them eyes painted on as well as the marabou type usually tipped with some plastic.

Good day with good students. Video link below. I will get caught on your posts later today.

As always, great report and video Lance, thanks for sharing it with us., from the looks of it, you were fishing in several locations at PV. Did any one location produce better than another?

Great video...as always.  Love to see my downloaded goodies helping others catch fish.  Looks like those youngsters are coming along pretty well in basic fishyology.

This is the prime time of year for finding multiple species within easy casting distance from shore.  As water temps rise most of the fish will move deeper.  Still good for perch and gills (when they show up) but crappies usually migrate to deeper water and suspend.  The smallies will move both shallower and deeper along the shorelines...mostly influenced by time of day and water temps.  You might try hitting it at daybreak with some topwater right next to shore if you wanna really see those guys light up.

Working on putting together another PDF package on Tricks, Tactics and Techniques.  It will help them develop new casts, retrieves and wiggles to seduce more fish...especially in tough times or under difficult conditions.

Thanx Merl.  Much of it will be reruns of stuff I have already put  up in the past.  But I will be including some new stuff helpful to bank tanglers...like special casts, retrieves, fishing with bobbers, etc.  As you know, when fishing from shore you can have a lot of different conditions to deal with that you don't when fishing afloat.

How are you coming along with your own tackle-making?

Yup. Fishing from shore has its own unique conditions to deal with. A fun challenge. As far as the fly tying goes. Another fun challenge. I find that the more I tie the better the hand/finger coordination gets. Takes time. I’m still doing simple stuff and building up a good supply of buggy things. Had to buy a few more boxes to contain them. Your vice is getting a good workout!!!

Not so much better as it was different species. Closer to the dam and the bass/crappie increased. Closer to the inlets we picked up a lot of perch hiding in the flooded grass ( were i expected the gills to be)

They study the write ups like the Bible...okay in some cases more than the Bible
