Ugly cat
#1
I have been out of action for a couple of weeks but finally got back on the lake today. Only had three hours to fish but managed to ketch nine cats. Most of them were toofooters, one at 28 and one at 29 inches. Best fish was a beat-up male at 31 inches. Rough lookin' cat that had been involved in some rough love, open wounds, scrapes, gouges all over. Must be tough for some of these old males to survive the spawn. Anyway, good to back at 'em.

Hey Lynn, glad you got out again and harrassed them a little. That ugly one looks like it might not survive for another year!

Kinda makes one feel sorry for them.

We caught one Last week that looked like he had been in an ear biting wrestling match.

Does this report mean your finger has healed?

I caught couple today that were green-back, white-belly purty cats but those old males really look rough.

Yeah, I survived the trigger finger surgery, but sweet wife has had some serious setbacks that required my presence at home -- sometimes you have to adjust priorities. She is doing better now so I have the ok to get after the cats again. Hope to see and Vi out there again.

That's UGLY with all capital letters.   As others have observed, probably his last catfest rodeo.  He probably earned every one of those scars with honor and can wear them proudly...until he can't.

Sorry to hear about your wife.  I was just about a full time caregiver for TubeBabe for the last two months before she let go.  Helps ya realize what things are really important.  But by then there is usually not much else you can do but follow it through as best you can.

One last parting shot.  Be careful you don't mistake looking at that cat for looking in the mirror.  The cat is probably better looking anyway.

Thanks Pat for the kindly words about priorities with regard to soul mates. Been together with mine for 64 years and I definitely consider her a keeper. I do take offense at your "parting shot" but then again, confronting a truth is difficult. Actually, I will gladly absorb any shot you send my way cuz they never hurt and... I admire the source, and the jokes, and the shared fishing, and the flig supplies... stuff like that.

Let's do lunch some day.  PM sent.

If you really wanna see a ugly catfish face in the mirror you can have my mask.

Hey Lynn, good to hear things have improved for you to be able to get out and chase the kitties... I sure need to harass the local population, but I guess next week is the first week at the market for us, so it will have to be night school... Good luck still watching for that smiling face and a 36"er... It's the year and I'm sure you'll do it... Best of luck... Jeff
When things get stressful think I'll go fish'en and worry about it tomorrow!
