2000 150 optimax repair
#1
Looking for someone in the salt lake area to work on my 2000 150 mercury optimax outboard motor. The motor runs great at low rpms but throws a check engine light at about 3500 rpm. I changed the fuel water separator and fuel pump to no avail. Robertsons marine told me they won't work on anything older than 2007 I believe. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated?

If you can't find anyone in the SLC area, you could always try Lee's marina in Hyrum. He will work on older motors

Maybe you have water in your fuel tank. Have you tried using Seafoam?

Don't waste you time going anywhere in SLC county for your Optimax.  Waste of time and money with no results.  Trust me.  Spent $1800, 4 trips to the shop and no results on my 2003 135.  Took it to Lee's, $780 later, found out the other folks reprogrammed it wrong, hacked wiring harness and a bunch of other BS hacks.  Flat didn't know what they were doing!  Thing now runs better than new!  Save your money and time and take it to Lee's.
If you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong.[Image: 20180822-122902.jpg]

Drove from Orem to Lee's in Hyrum. It was worth the drive. Fixed my problem motor and the cost was very fair.

I took it into marine products. Hopping they figure it out. Wish I had seen your post earlier
