Question about Utah lake water levels. I've been talking to my little tomboy daughter about catfishing in Utah Lake and how I used to do that so much when I lived over there. We are in Rock Springs Wyoming so it's a little harder for us to make it over that way but I would like to bring her over and have her wade the weed lines with me, fishing some cut bait under a bobber like I used to do all the time during the summer. Is the water level low enough that you can actually wade the weed lines or is it deep enough that I need to bring her out in a float tube? She's a shorty just being a couple inches over 5 ft tall so I've got to be careful with this so that I don't put her in a bad situation. Her mom trusts me to take care of Paige when I have her out with me but I don't want to put her in a situation where she's going to be uncomfortable, especially with it being her first time ever catfishing.

Wow that font was small, guess us older guys have a hard time reading it that small. I can't give you any info on Utah lake but I'm hoping that one of the guys that fish down there will chime in and give you some info. Hope you and your daughter have good luck when you get over to UL.

I may hit you up for some heavier jigs if you're still making them. 1/4 oz maybe? Purple, black, and copper Pats are fish favorites in the green over here. Cutts especially love the purple but the river is chuck full of 2-4 inch crawdads so the copper is a killer too. Just saw the advisory for the algae bloom so it appears Paige and I might miss out on catfishing this summer.. Bummer.

The bou jigs have been favorites for quite a few guys over the years on the Green and other flows. And you are right. When the water is deeper and the flow heavier you need more weight. A mix of 1/8 and 1/4 is good. And change up when you come to faster or slower runs.(08-02-2025, 06:42 PM)TubeDude Wrote: So that's where you went. Hope you are doing well. Hope you and your gal are able to hit "golden pond" again...and that the kitties give you a nice welcome. Sorry. The tackletorium is closed down. TubeBabe passed the middle of December and old age has jerked me out of my tube and off the water. Sold or donated all my stuff. Now living with my daughter. But I got a couple of hot girls to sit on my lap and keep me company...a black one and a redhead. ![]()

Damn sir.... I'm very sorry to hear about your wife. You two were an iconic pair, I'm sure to lots of anglers, myself included. I will definitely cherish the jigs I have left. Probably will hold some out and not fish them at all.
Thanks for all the advice and gear over the years. You have been and are a cherished friend I'll always think of with fondness and admiration. Your two hot girls are true beauties indeed. Those are some of the best female company to keep. Lol

Count myself fortunate to have had your friendship too. No need to avoid using any of those jigs. They were made to be used. Maybe okay to retire some after a few toothy fish have chomped 'em a bit. |
