Doug Miller did a piece on Quail Creek on Saturday. He caught a huge LM Bass on camera. I've been there once quite a few years back and I caught one 12 inch largie from the bank using a worm and a bobber near a submerged tree.

Should be good fishing especially early morning I bet.

Thanks for the info... didn't get to watch DM Saturday. The last I fished Quail creek was about 4 years ago, but didn't do too bad with catching a couple of 23'' lmb's.

I'm hoping that Sand Hallow will be another great bass pond and help take some of the pressure off of QC.

Haven't heard of anybody catching anything yet. That bass Doug Miller caught was a old clip. The water hasn't been that high in 2 years.

Sand Hollow is below the dunes you can see to the South East. It should have some fast action for 2-3 pound bass this year. Everything except for the brood stock they planted 3 years ago will be under 3 pounds.

I am not sure Sand Hollow is open for fishing yet. I know it was going to be closed for a while to let the fish grow up a bit. Most or all of the bucket mouth bass planted there came from the Bountiful Pond. Sand hollow is accessed from Hwy 15 between I-15 and Hurricane. You pass the Quail Creek road, cross over the Virgin River, and a mile or so (don't quote me on that) after the big wide left turn that heads you north to Hurricane you turn right and it is up that road 2-3 miles. If you look carefully, you can see the dam from the main highway. It is quite a big and deep lake that already has some nice improvements including a first rate boat launch. It will have some great potential as a bass lake. What is interesting about Sand Hollow is that the only water inlet is a pipe at the base of the dam. Water is pumped up hill from the Virgin River into the reservoir. I was up there early last year and it was quite the sight seeing water bubbling up from the dam. Hopefully there has been enough water in the Virgin to significantly add to what was there last year. We will expect a full report on Sand Hollow Reservoir upon your return.

Sand Hollow is open for fishing. There is also a pipe that runs between Quail Creek Res., and Sand Hollow. They can run water either direction to increase the lake levels in whichever lake they want. This also means that any fish in Quail Creek can also show up in Sand Hollow. The water temp should be just about right to start catching bass there...

I fished Quail last week from Sunday till Thursday. The water temp was 54 on Thursday when I left. The lake is low but launching the boat was no problem. I fished the east side in the rocks, I had a few bites but fishing was slow. I caught a rainbow with no fins or tail. With the warm weather they are having the water should be around 58-60.

Sand Hollow is opened for fishing. The ramp is opened but the lake is low.
