Pine View Crappie
#1
Does anyone know when we will be able to fish for crappie at Pine View? Is there open water for float tubes? Where will be the best area to try? What jigs are best when the ice is first off? Are the crappie in shallow water this time of year or in deeper water that may be warmer?

I haven't been up there all winter, but as far as the best places once it opens up, I've done well in the north arm and in the middle arm, where the rivers come in. The secret is to use very small jigs. I'd be very interested to hear more up to date info. Any open water guys?

Theres open water by all the river inlets, enough for a float tube, I haven't had much luck for crappie this early in the year but later on a good way to find some hot spots in to look for the asian clan that fishes for crappie up there every year they always seem to know where they are.

My son and I were up there today in the middle fork area and it is wide open almost to Browning point. We drove around to the back side and parked by some of the rest rooms that are right by the road. It is a little bit of a walk to the water but it looks like good place to launch a float tube. All we caught were cats and carp. WH2
