I bought a Harvest Objective spot and stalk bear permit this year. I was all set to hunt the
La Sals but wanted to wait until the weather cooled down so I wouldn't have to worry about the meat and hide spoiling in the heat. Silly me! They filled their objective of 12 bears on the 14th. So I thought I would flip over to Elk Ridge but that was a little intimidating considering I would be going solo and don't know the area. So plan C is to go out to the Uinta Yellowstone to scout for elk and hunt for bears until the Any Bull season starts then on through the season.
So can anyone help me out? I've been told that the Elkhorn Loop might be a good place to start. We've taken a few antlerless elk down low there on late hunts, and a cow and calf way up high by Chipeta Lake. Does anyone know a good area to look for bears? Or bears and elk together? Any help would be appreciated.

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.
