I've got a 24v 70# Minnkota Powerdrive. If one of my batteries isn't shot, I think it will be soon. I will be upgrading with lithium when replacing. Question is: 2 12V batteries or 1 24v battery? Which one will give me more run time? Thanks in advance!

Run time is determined by the Amp hour (Ah) rating of the battery setup. So whichever setup has the highest Ah rating will give you the longest run time. Two 12 v, 100 Ah batteries in series will give you 24 v, but the Ah is still only 100 Ah. Two 12 v batteries in parallel will give you 12 v and 200 Ah, but you need them to be in series to give you the needed 24 v.
So, your decision should be based on which setup (1 24 v or 2 12 v in series) will give the highest Ah rating. Secondary consideration is the dimensions of the storage space that will contain the battery(s). Right now, you can get a 2-pack of 12 v, 165 Ah smart batteries (connects to your phone for level of charge readings) from Li Time for $690. The only 24 v smart battery they offer has an Ah rating of 100 and costs $459. I would definitely go for the 2-pack of 12 v for the increased run time. The $230 higher cost would be worth it to me. YMMV.

In my research, I read that a Minn Kota 24 volt 80# thrust will use 56 amps per hour at full speed. Therefore a 24 volt 200 AH battery will give you about 3.5 hours run time at full speed.
A 70# motor draws 42 amps per hour so a 200AH battery will give you 4.7 hours runtime. We seldom run at full speed so the AH draw will be less.
Hope this helps.
Good fishing to all. Hue

IMHO its amp hour per dollars spent with consideration of battery space.
The huge variation is quality versus cost.
The LiTime trolling battery is probably the standard in which other lithiums are judged.
I'm running a Wattcycle for my house battery currently, but will be faced with replacing my AGM tm batteries in the future.. But there's tons of them out them.

One reminder if electric motor is older “brushed” motor not newer brushless do NOT run motor at higher than power 8 for any extended period of time.
Brushed motor’s will be damaged by full speed use by lithium batteries.
I agree with all of the above amp hours per dollar . Li-time are good quality, value and warranty is good. I had an issue on a battery and they took very good care of me on remedy.

Mr shane
Thanks for heads up on ducks! Heading out in AM I haven’t seen the turtles in the 3 trips I’ve been out. I was worried about duck numbers seemed off to me but , the days I was out there was a lot of “activity” so they may have been pushed off. Going to be a very wet day tomorrow, but we need the water!! Hope it’s good! Maybe we can meet up a day! Good luck if you get out!

Came home to get me and my equipment dried out.
Buddy shot 2 honks and I got a gadwall. The outer coat I grabbed and thought was a waterproof jacket - wasn't. Rain soaked through and all garments except my socks were wet when I got home. That jacket went into the trash bin.
This was the worst opener I can remember - ever.
