Good for you Shawn, getting the kid on some fish and letting him drive your boat, I bet he had a blast.
Ira and I got out this past Monday, with similar results, except our first fish was a 16" wiper. Water temps are staying in the high 60's but I think that will change in the coming week.

Shawn, you are braver than I. I was at the N Marina Tuesday looking to get decontaminated after Powell and was surprised how low the water is. It didn’t look deep enough to launch. BTW, no decontamination stations are open so I have to wait 30 days. These decontamination stations are a joke, last time I tried it Willard’s was broken.

Can't you just call up Willard bay state park and schedule an appointment to have your boat decontaminated?

I did. Answer was “We’re closed for the season.”

I did. Answer was “We’re closed for the season.” Well that's too bad, wasn't the cleaning station open at Powell? Hard to understand why they could not spend the effort to open it up at Willard d but I guess they have their reasons, even if we can't understand. It just makes me think they are not serious about keeping the invasive mussles from spreading.

How was the launch?
Does the South Marina make launching easier in low water?

No, you have to be careful when launching on the south but Shawn has only launched from the North in recent weeks. We launched from both and there is hardly any traffic on the South because of the low water condition but it has stayed at 36" deep for several weeks now. In low water conditions the East ramp is the one we use but you need to stay in the middle of the marina and channel as you get out on the main part of the lake and go out at least 50 to 75 yds before turning left of right.

I was able to meet him in S Ogden yesterday to get my boat decontaminated. Super nice guy. Now I won’t miss out on the great fall fishing.
